Manifestation of Deflectivization in Contemporary Czech - The Tendency Not to Inflect Some First Names in Connection With Surnames

This thesis deals with the issue of deflectivization in contemporary Czech, specifically the tendency not to inflect some first names in connection with surnames. The theoretical part focuses on the dynamics of the development of contemporary Czech, explains the concepts of norm and codification, describes variant forms in the language and clarifies the causes of language changes. He then defines a relatively new tendency - deflectivization and gives some specific examples of it. In connection with the non-declension of some names, it clarifies how such names should be inflected. The aim of the practical part is to compare the results of the questionnaire survey, which aims to find out to what extent deflectivization tendencies manifest themselves in the Czech population, with the results reported in the CNK and to evaluate whether or not there is a tendency to inflect these names prevailing. Main theme is liguistic analysis of obtained from list of surnames from etymological aspect for which permanent residence currently is or have been registered historically. Thesis is prepared on the base of study of onomastic literature.
The Issue of Surnames' Gender Inflection in the Czech Language)

The topic of the bachelor's thesis is surnames' gender inflection in the Czech language. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part includes chapters that are related to surnames' gender inflection: gender and gender linguistics, gender roles and feminism. In the chapter devoted to feminism, the work deals mainly with historical development and the current state. The surnames' gender inflection then creates a separate chapter. The work focuses on why we do surnames' gender inflection and how we create surnames' gender inflection shapes. The practical part of the work consists of research, which is processed using an anonymous questionnaire. The research aims to find out the opinion of the population of different age categories on the given issue.
Czechs' Attitude Towards the Gender Inflection of Female Surnames

The goal of this thesis is to analyse the attitude of Czechs towards gender inflection of female surnames. The contents of the theoretical part are history of the origins of surnames, views on inflection in the past and also opinions of contemporary experts regarding this subject. It analyses arguments both in favour of and opposing gender inflection. It covers changes in legislation which currently deal with this issue, their development in the past and comparison with legislations of other European countries. Included in the theoretical part are also the rules that apply to gender inflection of surnames. The empirical part is based on research, which was concluded using an electronic questionnaire. Its goal was to find out what are the respondent's preferences regarding gender inflected female surnames and gender neutral female surnames, as well as how tolerant they are towards the surname forms they don't prefer. This research applied to both Czech female surnames and foreign ones. Through the questionnaire it turned out that the respondents are relatively tolerant to gender neutral female surnames, while in their preferences they are quite conservative. The vast majority prefers the use of a gender inflected surname, after marriage they favour women using the husband's gender inflected surname....
Birth of a Child - Rituals, Customs

This bachelor thesis focuses on the birth of a child in the Czech family and society in the nineties of the twentieth century and at the beginning of the twenty-first century. The chapters and the subchapters are concerned with the periods connected with the birth of a child and are aimed at rituals, customs and activities connected with coming of a new life to the world. The thesis is divided into three main parts, pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal period. In the part Pregnancy we will look at how awaiting of a new life is reflected in the language, superstitions and various practices and what is necessary to do before the birth of a child, we will especially focus on the choice of a name and surname. In this part we can find the chapter on the preference for the sex of a child and on the values which the Czech society connects with a child. In the second part Childbirth we will look at the perception of childbirth as pain, at the course of childbirth and at the first things which are necessary to do after the birth of a child. The chapters on maternity, fatherhood and family were also put to this part since the birth of a child creates a new, lifelong relationship between a child and his/her parents. Web GIS system of surnames in the Czech Republic

Processing current and historical data of surnames in Bohemia in GIS Abstract The main objective of this work is processing current and historical data of surnames of the population of Bohemia and their subsequent comparison. For the purpose of this comparison typologically identical databases were created. The comparison of current and historical data, which were taken from "berní rula" from 1654, is performed by territorial units of judical districts from 1930 and the methods and results of earlier research by Novotný and Cheshire (2012) were used. The analysis focuses on selected surnames and compares current data with historical surnames by location quotients. The results were visualised in ArcGIS. In the conclusion of this work differences in geographical distribution of surnames in Bohemia in the present and in history are discussed. This thesis deals with the onomastic theme, specifically areas of antrhoponomastics, which deals with the origin, formation, frequency and nature of personal names. The goal of this thesis is an analyzis the most common anthroponyms in the area of Dačice. The analysis and classification of the obtained materials are based on study of onomastic literature.
Family Names, inherited Names and Nicknames in the village Tajanov

The topic of this thesis is anthroponomastics of Tajanov a village in western Bohemia. The aim of thesis is to analyze the collected proper nouns. I analysed the surnames, the names after residence and the nicknames on the basis of specialised literature. I recieved the material for the analysis from the list of voters and from the almanac to the 700th anniversary of the establishment of the village. I also used the method of exploration and found out next important information by some conversations. All the surnames, the names after residence and the nicknames are divided in the research part of the work into categories according to various aspects. I summarised the statistical evaluation of the accumulated data.
German surnames in town Netolice and their integration to Czech language

The work deals with integration of German surnames of Czechs to Czech language in town Netolice typical example of Czech town in area of Golden trail bringing German people and language. The work describes history of town Netolice to prove its Czech character. The work further deals with gaining substantive databases (German surnames of Czechs in town Netolice) from available sources fulfilling especially their up-to-dateness due to description of current state of integration of German surnames of Czechs in town Netolice. List of acquired German surnames of Czechs in town Netolice is stated further describing actual state of integration. Description is divided into grammatical integration and morphological integration. Morphological integration is further divided into two parts, inflection and word formation.
